Turn up upside down and you get an abbreviation for down. I got this from page 57 of Eye Twisters [link] by Burkard Polster, a book of ambigrams and other visual puzzles.
The arrow tile isn't mine either, I believe it's centuries old, at least.
But combining the play on words with the arrow tile is my original idea so far as I know.
